I already have an account with you but I can't log in to your website!
In June 2023 we upgraded our website and migrated over our loyalty customer database. Any passwords to access the old website are no longer valid and you will need to set up a new one. Type your email into the login screen but leave the password blank. The first time you will do this it will prompt you to set your new password (and for security you will be emailed that the password has been set) and you can now login. If you have an existing loyalty account with us but it is not recognising your email, we might have only had your phone number linked to your old account. Sign up as a new account and then send us an email at books@wherethewildthingsare.com.au so we can merge your old account to your new details and move over your loyalty points balance.
Customers who also shop at Avid Reader may already have account set up.
What is the Where The Wild Things Are loyalty club?
To say thank you for shopping with us, we offer a 5% loyalty credit to every purchase made in store or online (excluding gift vouchers) which can be redeemed off your next purchase or saved for up to 3 years if you like to wait until you have enough credit for a free book or help with your Christmas shopping. If you have already signed up and made a purchase on our website, you don't need to do anything as you are already a member! Otherwise you can sign up in store and we'll take your details. We will only contact you regarding your order and to send out our Summer Reading Guide catalog once per year. If you do not want to receive the catalog, please let us know and we will remove you from our list.
Loyalty points can be used across Where The Wild Things Are and Avid Reader Bookshops
What is your returns policy?
Where The Wild Things Are acts in compliance of Queensland Consumer Law. If you've purchased something in store or online and you change your mind (or you find a copy already in your to be read pile), we are happy to give you an exchange or full credit on your account if you return it within 21 days and the item is in unused, as new condition. In the rare instance we've made an error with your order or there is a manufacturing/printing problem with your purchase that we missed, we can give you a replacement, offer a full credit, or refund. Returns can be made in store, or email us at books@wherethewildthingsare.com.au for postal return details. Unfortunately we cannot cover the cost of postage to return something due to a change of mind, and refunds will be made back onto the original payment method.
What is your Privacy Policy?
When purchasing from Where The Wild Things Are, card details are transmitted through a secure third party server using Eway or Paypal. Card data is not stored by Where The Wild Things Are. We keep your email and contact details in our database, but we will never give away or sell your information to any other entity. For the full Privacy Policy, please click here
How do your gift vouchers work?
Currently only digital vouchers can be purchased on the website, which are emailed to you. You can get them sent directly to the recipient, but to avoid them getting lost in their junk mail we recommend you send the voucher to yourself and then forward it on. You can also print the voucher out to give it to them personally. For security you will need to be logged in to your account to purchase and only one voucher can be purchased online at a time, so if you need 5+ vouchers please give us a call or email books@wherethewildthingsare.com.au to make this easier. Physical vouchers can also be purchased in store, and phyical and online vouchers can both be redeemed in store or online. Vouchers cannot be redeemed for cash, and are valid for 3 years from date of purchase. Please keep your number and pin safe. If you lose your voucher, we may not be able to replace it.
My gift voucher isn't accepted at the checkout?
Where The Wild Things Are moved over to a new system in mid 2023, and if you have a gift voucher purchased before then, it will unfortunately not work on the website. It can be easily redeemed if you bring it into the store, or get in touch with all the voucher details and we can convert it to a new voucher for you. Vouchers purchased at our Avid Reader are redeemable at Where The Wild Things Are.
I have a BookPeople voucher, how do I use it?
If you have a gift voucher from BookPeople, we absolutely accept them at Where The Wild Things Are, both on the website and in store. Just enter in the voucher number and PIN at the checkout like you would with a regular Wild Things voucher.
Do you offer bulk discounts?
For large orders of 10+ copies of the same book, we may be able to offer a bulk discount depending on the title and it's publisher. Unfortunately this isn't automatic on the website, so please send us an email at books@wherethewildthingsare.com.au with the order details and we can send you a quote.
How long does it take to process an order?
We try to get orders out as quickly as possible. Pick up orders should be notified about collection within a couple of hours (during opening hours) and we aim for orders placed before 2pm to be dispatched that day. During busy times (like Christmas) there may be a slight delay depending on how busy it is in the shop, but if you have any concerns please give us a call on 07 3255 3987 and we will do our best to accommodate you. We deliver orders using Australia Post and are subject to their usual delivery times, and all orders can be tracked.
My delivery hasn't arrived?
Australia Post allows 2-4 business days for regular deliveries within Queensland, or 3-6 business days for interstate. After this time, get in contact with us and we can track your delivery. Please consider at the checkout if you would prefer us to give Australia Post an authority to leave your order, or if you need a signature. Signature deliveries will leave a card to collect from the post office if you aren't home, but we cannot replace deliveries that have been lost or stolen with an authority to leave and a proof of delivery from Australia Post.
Do you ship overseas?
Yes, however the price will vary depending on the size and weight of what you would like to send. If you select International Post at the checkout, we will collect your order and weight it before emailing you a quote of how much it will cost to send.
Do you use eco friendly packing materials?
Avid Reader is constantly trying to make better choices for consumable materials instore. Our post packaging uses eco friendly hex wrap instead of plastic bubble wrap, we ship in cardboard mailers or reuse cardboard boxes from publishers, and use a natural rubber compostable paper tape.
Our gift wrapping uses uncoated brown paper, compostable paper tape, hemp twine and fair trade upcycled saree ribbons.
