Join author and illustrator Peter Carnavas for a workshop exploring different story tricks and techniques you can use in fun and unusual ways - including using a mandolin and a typewriter! Ages 8-12
About The Elephant:
Olive's father has a sadness so big that she imagines it as an enormous elephant following him around. Every day Olive sees the elephant, and every day she wishes it would go. With the help of Grandad and her best friend, Arthur, Olive sets out to chase the elephant away. But how can Olive move something so big?
About Peter Carnavas:
Peter Carnavas writes and illustrates books for children and the grown-ups in their lives. He grew up in Brisbane and on the Sunshine Coast. He became a primary school teacher and it was during this time that he began to immerse himself in picture books. His first book, Jessica’s Box, was shortlisted for the 2008 Queensland Premier’s Literary Award and the 2009 CBCA Crichton Award for Emerging Illustrators which helped inspire him to create more. He has since written and illustrated many picture books, which have been translated into German, Italian, Portuguese, and Dutch. Peter lives on the Sunshine Coast with his wife, two daughters, and a scruffy dog that occasionally escapes.
