Aboriginal Children's Day Story Time - Dr Anita Heiss
4:00 PM – 4:30 PM
Celebrate Aboriginal Children’s Day by joining us for a very special story time with the celebrated and prolific author Dr Anita Heiss! She will be reading picture books by Indigenous authors and stories written in collaboration with children from Indigenous communities that exemplify this year’s theme, We are the Elders of tomorrow, hear our voice.
The organisers of the day explain that this theme, “honours our Elders – custodians of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander traditional knowledge, passed down to our children through stories and cultural practice. Hearing children’s voices today plays a crucial role in them becoming influential Elders and leaders of the future.”
Aboriginal Children’s Day is a great opportunity for all Australians to honour, enjoy and learn about the lives and culture of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and children. We hope to see you for story time on August 4th!
We acknowledge that we conduct business on the stolen land of the Jagera and Turrbal people, whose sovereignty has never been ceded.
NOTE: Storytimes have been moved online and you will need to register on this page to participate. You do need to include your email address in the registration.
For all storytimes we will be using the online video conferencing platform Zoom. You can sign up for Zoom HERE. On the day of storytime participants will be emailed a link and a password to join the Zoom chat.
